While the number of infections may seem low compared to the Kanto and Kansai regions, the number per 100,000 people is the sixth highest in Japan. Fukuoka Prefecture has reached Stage 4 according to several indicators proposed by a government specialist panel, resulting in the emergency declaration being issued for the prefecture to prevent the situation from worsening if infections continue at the current rate.<\/p>\n<p>Declaration of a State of Emergency in Response to the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)<br \/>\nOffice for Novel Coronavirus Disease Control, Cabinet Secretariat, Government of Japan<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/corona.go.jp\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/corona.go.jp\/en\/<\/a><br \/>\nFukuoka Prefecture<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pref.fukuoka.lg.jp\/site\/english\/en-living-infection-c4-1.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.pref.fukuoka.lg.jp\/site\/english\/en-living-infection-c4-1.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Based on the state of emergency declared for Tokyo and the three prefectures of Kanagawa, Saitama, and Chiba on January 7, Kyushu University has already raised guidance levels to \u201cLevel 2: Restrictions (Low)\u201d in order to continue its educational and research activities. The declaration requests that in-person classes and entrance examinations be conducted to the extent possible throughout the state of emergency.
