Hasumi Jiro is the Program Director of the CSPA and is a political philosopher with a particular interest in theories of citizenship education, language education policy, and political corruption. He was awarded his PhD by the University of Cambridge for a thesis entitled “A Critical Examination of the Aims of Political Education as a Constituent Part of Citizenship Education: With Particular Reference to the Contemporary Policies of England and Japan” (2008). He offers a number of courses open to CSPA students, including Introduction to Politics, Introduction to Public Policy, Governance and Public Philosophy and Japanese Politics.
